ABOUT THE PROJECT
Luna Solar+ began development in early 2021. The Project includes approximately 5,624 acres of land located approximately 20 km west of the Town of Brooks, Alberta, in Newell County. The Project is located within Townships 18 and 19, Ranges 16 and 17, West of the Fourth Meridian, on privately owned, cultivated land. The Project area has a strong solar resource, characteristic of Alberta, and will generate clean energy over its 35+ year lifetime.
The Project will be comprised of two adjacent phases, Luna Solar+ Phase I and Luna Solar+ Phase II. Each phase of the Project will include 465 megawatts (MW) of solar capacity, with an 80MW/160 megawatt-hour (MWh) battery energy storage system (BESS), and as such will total 930MW of solar and 160MW/320MWh of BESS once construction is completed. Phase I is anticipated to begin construction in Q2 2024, and Phase II is anticipated to begin construction in Q2 2025.
Based on preliminary site design, the Project will involve installing up to 2.2 million solar photovoltaic (PV) modules, 260 inverter/transformer stations, an electrical collection system, access paths and road upgrades, as well as a substation and BESS associated with each phase of the Project. Each substation will connect to the Alberta Interconnected Electric System (AIES).

Q2 2024: Phase I Construction Commences
Q2 2025: Phase II Construction Commences
Q4 2025: Phase I Commercial Operations
Q4 2026: Phase II Commercial Operations
